Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass Team

Members of the Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass team have successfully designed, built, and operated all the chemical weapons destruction facilities in the United States.  The project's key managers have experience in all aspects of chemical demilitarization.  For decades, at work locations around the globe, the team has been actively involved in local community, charitable, educational, and job creation efforts.  The team includes:

Bechtel National, Inc.  (http://www.bechtel.com/) Bechtel is recognized as the world leader in safely managing large, complex engineering, construction, and remediation projects.  Bechtel has over 20 years experience with U.S. chemical weapons elimination programs, including responsibility for the design, construction, operation, and closure of the Aberdeen, Maryland and the Pueblo, Colorado chemical agent destruction plants, construction of the Anniston Chemical Agent Disposal Facility, Alabama and numerous Cooperative Threat Reduction projects in the former Soviet Union.  In its 107-year history, the company has completed more than 22,000 projects on all seven continents.

Parsons Infrastructure and Technology Group.   (http://www.parsons.com/) Parsons Infrastructure has more than 20 years of continuous involvement in U.S. and international chemical weapons elimination, including design of seven U.S. facilities; construction and operations of the Newport Chemical Agent Disposal Facility; and engineering management of the chemical agent neutralization facility in Siberia, Russia - the largest facility of its kind.  For the Program Manager for Assembled Chemical Weapons Assessment, Parsons developed the neutralization-biotreatment design selected to destroy the Pueblo chemical stockpile.

Washington Demilitarization Company.  (http://www.wgint.com/) WDC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Washington Group International , has over 32 years of experience with the U.S. chemical weapons elimination program as prime contractor at the Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Umatilla, Oregon; Anniston, Alabama; and Johnston Atoll chemical agent disposal facilities and as operator and closure contractor at Pueblo  and Blue Grass.  The company is a preferred provider of a full range of science, engineering, construction, and operating services in 14 major markets.

Battelle Memorial Institute.  (http://www.battelle.org/) Battelle develops and commercializes technology for industry and government customers.  As one of the world's largest private independent research and development companies, it has conducted more than 5,000 projects for 1,300 customers.  Key areas of expertise are environmental technology, defense systems, agrifood, medical products, pharmaceuticals, and energy.  Since 1999, Battelle has assisted the National Guard Bureau Civil Support Teams at the Blue Grass Army Depot.

General Physics.  (http://www.gpworldwide.com/) A subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation, GP-one of the world's largest workforce development companies-develops training to meet specific needs by focusing on people, processes, and technology.  For more than 15 years, GP has operated the Chemical Demilitarization Training Facility to provide more than 140 specific courses in chemical demilitarization operations and laboratory, maintenance, emergency response, and toxic area operations for all U.S. chemical agent disposal facilities.

General Atomics.  (http://www.ga.com/) GA performs diversified research and engineering for power generation, energy conversion, waste management, environmental restoration, and advanced defense systems.  GA has worked on demilitarization of chemical weapons since 1982, including the Newport, Blue Grass and Pueblo chemical agent destruction plants.  GA's Neutralization-SCWO (Supercritical Water Oxidation) design, prepared for PMACWA, has been selected as the preferred technology for Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant.
